NDLEA raids Lagos Island drug den, arrests kingpin, 6 others; recovers 5,862kg drugs

 As Received: A major drug kingpin operating the notorious Patey Lagos Island drug haven, in Lagos state, Mrs. Sherifat Kehinde Lawal has been arrested along with six other suspects by operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA, who also recovered 5,862 kilograms of assorted illicit drugs including Loud and Codeine in a raid on Saturday 26th February 2022. Following credible intelligence and follow up surveillance on illicit drug dealing in Osho, Gambari, and Beecroft Streets, Patey Area of Lagos Island, anti-narcotic officers stormed the Gambari street base of the drug kingpin where they arrested her and six of her accomplices at 9:30am Saturday 26th Feb. Other members of the cartel operating in the axis however mobilised hoodlums who attacked the operatives with stones, bottles and guns in a bid to prevent the officers from arresting other kingpins marked for arrest as well as taking the suspects already nabbed and drug exhibits away.   Liverpool football club defeats Chelsea football club to lift the 2022 Carabao Cup at the Wembley Stadium in England. After 120 minutes of play, the game was decided by penalty kicks which trapped all and sundry at 11 - 10 until Kepa Arizabalaga played his kick to the winds.  It was an interesting match with glamour, skills with scintillating and enterprising moves.

GS Magna Talent Hunt Lives Up To Billing As Box2box, 36 Lion, Others Showcase Young Talents

The maiden edition of the GS Magna Future Stars scouting program is living up to its Billing as talented young players displayed their God given skills and talents. The under-19 and under-16 youths tournament kicked off on Monday at the Legacy Pitch,  National Stadium, Surulere, Lagos  with 8 clubs in the under-19 category and 6 teams in the under-16 category.  With two matches already played in the under-19 category group games, Box2box football club leads group A, while 36 Lion Football Club and Dominion Hotspur FC   with 4 points each are both at the top of  group B. RESIDENTS PROTEST IN IKOTA HOUSING ESTATE, AJAH...

Residents are protesting in Ikota Housing Estate relentlessly to the action of Lagos State government on houses within the estate on Friday 18th February, 2022. Houses are being marked for demolition, this has generated tension among the masses.   These houses and residents had been served notices by Lagos state government as gathered from the source within the area.  It waa gathered that after the demolition of Maroko, some people were relocated to Ikota with the notion of owning the apartments allocated to each and everyone of them. It is unfortunate that after so many years they still have to lose out, says one of the allottee in the estate. We implore the state government to tread with caution, diplomacy and arrest the situation to avert casualties...

The African Cup of Nations has finally arrived the global stage of recognition.   The continent earned it in three weeks....in displays of the full range of African football – power, physicality, speed of Sub-Saharan players, technical skills and organized play of North Africans, raw and unadulterated free spirit of the new teams from the deep-South, and energy, fighting spirit and endless running of Central and East Africans.    For the final match tomorrow there could not have been a better epilogue - Africa’s two best players, Egypt’s Salah, and Senegal’s Mane, confronting each other.  It is ironic that the team that the Super Eagles defeated almost without breaking sweat at the start of the championship.... is looking more and more like the potential champions. I am wagering on Egypt to lift the trophy.  One Federation, Two Presidents, new crisis?  I truly do not want to spoil my fun this weekend by talk of the Niger...

Rebuild Lagos Trust Fund Begins High Court of Lagos State Igbosere Project

 As Received: The Rebuild Lagos Trust Fund is set to commence its assignment with reconstruction of the Lagos High Court Complex, Igbosere, one of the several buildings destroyed during the unrests in October 2020. A statement issued by the Board of Directors, which was constituted by Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, said an extensive structural integrity assessment has been conducted on the buildings within the High Court Complex to determine the scope of work on the facility.    Noting that the complex includes the Colonial Building, which is the oldest and most recognisable court building in Nigeria, the statement said, “an extensive structural integrity assessment was conducted. The investigation revealed that most of the structural members, especially in the iconic colonial building of the court, were severely affected”.
