7 MILLION NIGERIANS PUSHED INTO POVERTY - WORLD BANK

Image
INSECURITY, UNEMPLOYMENT, ENERGY AND MORE ...  The government of Nigeria had been alerted by the world bank, given certain indices that culminated to aggravate the poverty level in the country include inflation, insecurity, unemployment and many more. Eko-Odeyale Bolaji thought it wise enough to look more inner rather than outside our country, a citizen could not think beyond now. It is what is realizable today that is important now.  Electricity, Covid-19, and other worrisome features must be tackled to reduce poverty in the country.  Analysts are worried about the complaints of SMEs in the country, this is closer to the masses, farming had been obstructed, therefore bringing into existence unavoidable reduction in food supply in the country.  Every sector of the economy is affected. A lot needs to be done now.

*THERE IS NO FEDERAL GRAZING ROUTE LAW IN NIGERIA* _Senate Spokesman Faults President Buhari_

Image
As Received...  Senator representing the Osun Central senatorial district, Dr Ajibola Basiru, said on Sunday that President Muhammadu Buhari lacks the powers to revive the old grazing routes, anywhere in the country. The lawmaker also said he wonders if the president has been receiving correct legal advice from the attorney-general of the federation, Abubakar Malami. Basiru, who holds a doctoral degree in Property Law, said he spoke to The Punch in his capacity as the senator representing the Osun Central Senatorial District, and in his personal capacity because the upper chamber had yet to take a position on the matter. The lawmaker said the issue of grazing routes was not known to the Nigerian constitution and that Buhari did not have any power to direct the implementation of any law that was alien to the country’s legal books. He explained that the gazette that Buhari was referring to was a product of a decree promulgated in the northern Nigeria in the 1960s. He argued tha...

IDUMOTA, LAGOS ISLAND UNDER SIEGE... Hoodlums at war

Image
The sight of hooliganism has been the order of the day in Lagos Island for the past four days. Nnamdi Azikwe street has witnessed killings, maiming, , extortion and day light robbery by factions of hoodlums in the area.  The police had done what could be termed dispersion through coercion but to no avail. OP MESA operatives did a lot to stop these bad elements in the society, but they reappear to torment the residents while they attack rival groups in the locality. We implore the state government to give directives to the local government authorities and local vigilantes to work together to avert loss of lives and properties of innocent Lagosians.  The markets in Lagos harbour decident elements, this we believe should not be residence to humans but a market place.  Life in the markets should be looked into by Lagos state government.  Lagos state government has spent so much to keep Lagos upgraded but must protect all we have committed to make it a mega city. Fi...
