OBANIKORO FOOTBALL DEVT. ASSO. AND FRAPAPA BET {SOLOTI GAMING LIMITED} BRING FOOTBALL TO THE GRASSROOTS

In their quest to empower youth through the football Tournament platform, Obanikoro Football Tournament organizers under the chairmanship of Azeez Onadi has just partnered with FRAPAPA BET. 



According to the organizing committee Chairman, the tournament has been around for six years now with our basic motivation being ‘the passion for the game’. He said ‘we noticed that our youth who were once-promising football players were getting involved {in multitude} in social vices and other antisocial activities because there was neither work nor sporting competition to keep them busy or off the street thus putting their football career into perspective, therefore since all the members of this committee play football, we could identify the delinquents and the offshoot was the introduction of this great tournament which about 2,000 youth have participated and has attracted tens of thousands of spectators since inception.


Moreover, on account of the acceptance of the competition in Lagos State {club sides from other local Government Areas /LCDA that have participated except Shomolu/Bariga - Ikorodu, Surulere, oworonsoki, Odi-olowo, Mushin, Alimosho, Epe, Mainland, etc}, there was need to reach out to a corporate organization and responsible/responsive grassroots political figures within the State who share this view to be able to meet up with this development and its financial demand. 

Therefore the partnership with FRAPAPA BET is timely and will assist in the sustained achievement of this goal for the general good of the youth, and in particular, the development of grassroots soccer not only in Shomolu/Bariga axis but the entire State.



It hasn’t been easy doing this alone with my committee members  with appreciable support from a political figure like  Hon. Rotimi Abiru { who has graced all finals except last year, 2020 as a result of COVID-19 pandemic}, and ex-international like Waid Akanni but with the prospective partnership with Hon. Kuye Ademorin, Hon. Tokunbo Abiru and Hon. Abiodun Orekoya we believe more youth will benefit from this annual empowerment program through soccer which the final game comes up on the 26th of December, 2021, at Baptist Academy Football Field Obanikoro, off Ikorodu Rd, Lagos.  

Our past winners include: Sunday School Ilupeju, MFM youth F.C, JO S.C Obanikoro, Choice FC Oworonsoki and Barrack Fc Pedro. 



The Chairman also reiterated that the tournament is poised to act as antidote to youth unemployment by keeping the special ones in check for future endeavours.

  Violence against women and girl child has been so phenomenal in our society from time immemorial and needs to be curtailed and put to rest forever.
